Bar 17 Fall Tour 2006
Tonight !!! Trey Anastasio at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia ………….
Trey Anastasio kicked off his tour last Sunday night with two sold-out shows at Webster Hall in New York City. The lineup this time around is similar to his 70-Volt Parade with a few changes most notably drummer Jeff Sipe from Aquarium Rescue Unit. Trey is out on tour in support of his new album Bar 17 on his on imprint Rubber Jungle after parting ways with Columbia. With the phan message boards buzzing that the first set would be dominated by the new material, the show opened with "Drifting" a Trey Phan favorite. The set ran a little shy under two hours that featured "Sweet Dreams Malinda" another older Trey tune and the Phish classic "Divided Sky" with Trey on acoustic guitar backed by a string quintet conducted by Don Hart. The second set was also a mixture of old and new with a bust out of the funky "Gotta Jibboo" and the R&B sounds of "Night Speaks to Woman" with the instantly recognizable voice of Jennifer Hartswick After an amazing two sets Trey led the band back onstage for soulful sounds of "Cincinnati".

Before Driver Trey tuned his guitar and talked about his guitar tech who asks him how he wants his acoustics tuned for whatever songs he wants to play which Trey says is a complete waste of time since the songs he wants to play most often change as the show goes on. He went on to say the 2 best guitar tuners he's ever seen was Leo Kottke and Jimi Hendrix. Trey then said what made Jimi such a good tuner is that he would tune his guitar during songs...songs like..(almost immediatly someone in the orch. section screams "Machine Gun")..yeah like Machine Gun. Trey than says that there will be no other guitarist to ever walk the earth Jimi and then started Driver. ### Trey mentioned how weird it was for Phish to play Strange Design with Page singing since it was such a personal song. He said he wanted to play it as it had been written on an acoustic guitar and proceeded to play it solo acoustic.
